World Poetry Day 2017

I originally wrote this for last year for World Poetry Day but thought it should have another airing for those of you that missed it!

I love to write a  poem

About all kinds of stuff

The things that make me happy

Or to moan when things get tough!

There are many types of poem

From which to take your pick

A Haiku, sonnet or blank verse

Ode or Limerick

Some poems can be so funny

Others make you cry

Many are inspiring

So go and give one a try

I want to add my voice to others

In this unique display

Of poets coming together

For World Poetry Day!

    1. Thank you Debby, I am touched and delighted at the lovely compliment.
BTW I had to fish this commnt out of my SPAM folder!! 😡😡😡

      1. OH no! You are the 3rd person finding me in spam 🙁 🙁 Thanks for dumpster diving! 🙂

        1. I get so cross when they put my friends in the SPAM!! 😡😡😡😡

          1. Grrrrrrrrrrr 🙁 🙁

  3. Such a good idea to write a poem about poetry on this day! Very nice, Sis!

    1. Thanks Sis. It is quite an old one I wrote a couple of years ago 🙂

      1. Always good to have the perfect poem at hands instantly!!

        1. Yes the old ones come in handy!! 😊😊

  4. Great poem sis!!!!

  5. I love it! I’m glad you gave it another airing. Congratulations on your poetry book! You’re such a talented poet. 🙂

    1. Than you Vashti. That really means a lot to me 🙂

  6. I’m so glad that you and one other blogger alerted me–somehow I missed the memo that today was a special day for all of us here! I LOVE your poem too!!!

    1. Thank you, I nearly missed it as well!!!

      1. I hope you’ll be participating in April’s Nat’l Poetry Writing Month–even though it’s here in the USA, it’s open to Everybody!! And it’s great fun 🙂

        1. Oh? I didn’t know about it at all. Way toying with doing the A-Z challenge but might have a go at the Poetry month instead. Not sure yet.

          1. Good luck with the A-Z–it looks like a tough challenge, to me–though NaPoWriMo offers many of the same poetry forms to challenge us each April too 🙂

          2. Well I am definitely going to have a look at it that’s for sure, although I am a bit of a 3 trick pony!!

          3. A 3-trick pony, hah–I doubt that seriously!! You’re wonderful!

          4. Thank you Azul, that is so nice of you 🙂

          5. I’ll probably post an excited note as NaPoWriMo begins here in the US, April 1–so you’ll be reminded, IF you choose to participate in it too. And if you do join in, you can follow as rigidly or relaxed as you choose–sometimes if I don’t feel up to doing the “prompt”/form, I just count whatever poem I’ve posted as my daily participation. It’s just supposed to be FUN! If you want to check it out, I think the link is napowrimo.com…I’ll have to check for myself!

          6. I have been over to have a look, and sign myself up for it. Yes, I am sure it will be fun! 🙂

          7. Oh, the sign up is already there? I’d best run over and get signed up too–Thanks so much Judy, you’re a great help!!!

          8. Well it was you that put me onto it so I went over to have a look, and I noticed there was somewhere for me to submit my blog.

          9. Good for you–I think you’ll really enjoy it!

          10. Yes, I am sure I will. Thank you for suggesting it. 🙂
